From Riga to Barcelona

Born in Riga, Latvia, Alona started drawing in early childhood but for the long time it was just a hobby that helped her to transform her feelings into art. 2022 – 2026

Building a Dual Practice

In 2022 she started to work more on oil paintings and discovered ceramics. Each ceramics piece is hand-formed and often sold directly to people. In parallel, she continued developing her oil painting skills - works on canvas that can take more than a year to finish. Both crafts share one studio and one voice - a voice that returns again and again to inner life, to complex feelings.

2026

She founded the @artbeats_bcn community back in 2022, creating a space for the interaction between artists and musicians. In winter 2026 she attended drawing and painting course in Barcelona Academy of Arts. In 2026 she decided to open a physical store ArtBeats.Space together with her partner, to offer artworks made by ArtBeats participants and host events.

Principles

  • Handmade

Every ceramic piece and painting is created by hand by Alona in her Barcelona studio.

  • Small Batch

Ceramic works are produced in small batches, often to order. Paintings are unique, created one at a time.

  • Artist-Owned

Alona has full control over her creative process and sales, working directly with buyers at markets and through galleries.

  • Community Driven

Through @artbeats_bcn and event spaces, she fosters dialogue between artists and viewers, building a local community around art.
