Emotions in Tangible Form

Olga, working under the pseudonym Mademoiselle Pippa (MIPA), spent many years balancing office work with a passion for art. What started as a series of playful sketches for colleagues gradually grew into a deep interest in illustration and painting, eventually becoming a full artistic practice. The pandemic, moving to Barcelona, and adapting to a new environment became important turning points in her creative journey, leading her away from creating images and toward working with physical objects and materials. Today, her work explores memory, personal experience, and the ways emotions can be transformed into tangible forms.

Discovering Clay

A defining moment came when Olga discovered botanical plaster reliefs. Illustration gradually gave way to plaster, clay, and sculptural work, while learning casting techniques opened new creative possibilities. Over the years, she has worked with plaster, clay, liquid stone, epoxy resin, and silver, often combining materials, textures, and techniques. Through her work, she explores contrasts between the organic and the crafted, fragility and permanence, using form and texture to tell stories.

Art in Everyday Life

At the center of MIPA’s practice are brooches and small wearable objects built around a personal visual mythology. Hearts, eyes, mushrooms, fish, bones, and other recurring symbols become characters in stories inspired by memory, observation, nature, and the experience of relocation. She is drawn to the idea of art that can become part of everyday life, which is why many of her works are created as wearable pieces rather than purely decorative objects. Today, her Observing Hearts series and realistic vintage mushrooms are featured in galleries and art markets across Barcelona and have become some of the most recognizable elements of her artistic practice.
